Even though Black Swan is the sequel to White Rabbit, it feels fundamentally different.
For one, the themes are a little darker. It’s less noir-y and much more psychological. White Rabbit went at an almost frenetic pace; Logan was under serious time pressure and didn’t really stop to process things or deal with his emotions.
Black Swan, however, meanders. It’s a slow burn where you know that the shit hitting the fan is just around the corner, but it takes its time getting there — and all the while we’re deep in Tess’ head, witnessing her thoughts as the drama unfolds.
Here was my visual inspiration for the book. Next week, we’ll dive in and meet Black Swan’s characters.
